Wedding Design & Decoration Trends In 2022

Clear your diaries folks because wedding season is ALL seasons in 2022! With 2 years of interrupted wedding plans (no need to mention why!) 2022 is set to be the comeback year for our most favorite of days. Along with it comes a host of new wedding trends.

The extra time couples have had to design and refine their wedding plans has seemingly gone one of two ways. They have considered their actual needs and realigned their day to reflect a more relaxed celebration, OR they are so desperate to party that they have completely blown the budget for a day no one will forget! Vegas Baby!

In preparation for all scenarios, we have come up with a little cheat sheet of wedding decorations and design trends you might want to incorporate into your day.

Location Trend

The Great Outdoors Is Calling

We’ve all been stuck inside for what seems like a very long time so lets reacquaint ourselves with the beauty of nature.

Wedding planners and councils are seeing a huge uptick in outdoor locations for ceremonies and receptions. In this situation your decorations have to be considered and relevant to the setting you choose.

For example, Palm Cove QLD you will want to compliment with tropical flowers and light weight fabrics. Thredbo NSW calls for Natives. Native flowers are not necessarily a new trend however they are standing strong on the eve of 2022 wedding decoration favorites. Heroing an ‘Everlasting Daisy’ or “Honeysuckle” gives your wedding that authentic and elegant Australian feel.

Very Peri

Trending in fashion for 2022 are bright colours to express optimism and cut through in what has been a pretty bleak time in history. We always see consistency in fashion and wedding colours with the tie into bridesmaid dresses and flower arrangements. If you are a fan of a purple/blue hue then you are in luck! Pantone has named Very Peri its colour of 2022. Described by Pantone as a “warm and friendly blue hue with a carefree confidence and joyful attitude” should make for an easy addition to your colour palette.

Quality vs Quantity

Across all aspects of your wedding day (including your guest list) you want to ensure quality. Sustainably made and sourced decorations, food and flowers are your basics that you want to cover off to ensure you are purchasing/ hiring items that are held to a high standard. Bee’s wax candles are my favorite and also make gorgeous guest gifts. Demonstrating your beliefs speaks louder than anything so have your say!

Green Thumbs

Who doesn't love a cactus! They look great, affordable and virtually impossible to kill.

So picture dozens and dozens in repurposed jam jars down the center of your table. Adding this natural, upcycled decoration can be used as reception decor and then taken by guests at the end of the night as gifts! Two birds, one stone!

As you start on your wedding design journey, check in with how you live life day to day. Are you the outdoors type, do you garden, are you conscious about the items you decorate your home with. Carry these beliefs and convictions with you when designing your perfect day and you’ll feel right at home.

 See you next month xx
