FAQs About Table Runners
How long should a table runner be?
Measure your table, then add the overhang you want at each end. We suggest 15cm to 30cm per end, so a 2.4m trestle suits a 3m table runner. The standard table runner size in cm across our range is 235cm to 300cm in table runner length and 20cm to 90cm in table runner width. Our cheesecloth table runners are 3m long by 90cm wide, and extra long table runner rolls reach 10m and 12m.
What colours do your table runners come in?
43 colours, filterable by colour and by fabric at the top of the page. Our satin table runners offer the widest selection, spanning classic neutrals, bold reds and pinks, metallics, and a range of blue and green tones. Choose from soft shades such as sage and blush, deeper options including navy and burgundy, or brighter colours like royal blue, hot pink and orange. Natural linen options are also available in earthy tones such as olive, brown and beige.
Which table runner fabric should I choose?
A cheesecloth table runner, often searched as a gauze table runner, has a crinkled boho table runner finish and never needs ironing. For a rustic table runner with real weight, our hessian table runners are a woven table runner in jute, sold elsewhere as a burlap table runner or jute table runner, and the hessian and lace table runner adds a lace centre. For a natural table runner with a refined finish, our premium linen blend table runners are also good options. Chiffon and organza give you a sheer table runner.
Which table runners suit a formal or glamorous setting?
It depends how much light you want the table to throw. A sequin table runner catches everything, so it earns its place on a cake or bridal table rather than on every table in the room. A velvet table runner does the opposite, absorbing light for a deeper look that suits evening and winter receptions. A satin table runner sits between the two, with a soft sheen that photographs well under venue lighting. For formality without the weight, an organza table runner or chiffon table runner lets the tablecloth colour show through.
Can you use a table runner on a round table?
Yes. For a round table, lay the runner across the centre, with both ends draping over the sides. On a 1.8m round banquet table a 275cm round table runner gives a generous fall, while a 235cm hessian runner is neater. For a short table runner or small table runner effect, run it across the centre. Choose it alongside our round tablecloths, and add placemats and table mats either side.
